Quick Guide to the Results History
This page lists a player's results for either Singles or Doubles. The most recent matches are shown first.
You can click on the Singles or Doubles links at the top of the page to switch views.
What does the data mean
- Date - date match played
- Round - tournament or interclub round number.
- Event - indicates whether the match was for Interclub, a Tournament, or a Team Event. Hovering your mouse over the adjacent question mark will reveal details of the event. If the event name is underlined it means you can click the link to display the actual event results.
- Grade - shows the Grading and Points and of this player before the match took place (e.g. S7-1585). You will see that the points often change from match to match. This is because the player has gained, or lost, points depending on whether they won their previous match.
- Versus - shows the opponent. Clicking on his/her name will show the full Results History for the opponent. Clicking on the heads icon beside an opponent's name will redisplay the screen to show results against this opponent only. This is called head-to-head.
- Grade - shows the Grading and Points of the opponent before the match took place. It will be blank for unprocessed matches.
- Result - an * beside the result only applies before Oct 2019 and indicates this was a Grade Win, or Loss, for this player. A double ** indicates the Grade Win was against a higher graded player and therefore counts as 2 wins.
Blank entries in the Grade columns mean that these matches have not yet being processed by the Grading Recalculation program.
Grading Recalculation
All players gradings are recalculated twice per month - as at the 15th and the last day of the month (except there is no update on Jan 15th). The website will be updated on the first working day after those dates. This involves processing all new interclub and tournament matches.
Players gain or lose points for each match depending on their relative points in the Win/Loss points adjustments table (see tennis.kiwi/matchhub).
A player moves up a grade automatically when their points reach the next band level. After promotion a player receives 2 months immunity from being downgraded (except for grade 1).
A player moves down a grade if their points drop below the bottom of their current band. However if the player has immunity then the player will instead be placed at the bottom of their current Grade. Immunity lasts for 2 months after a grade promotion. NB: All players have 2 months immunity from Oct 1st 2019.
Doubles results
Each partnerships’ points are averaged and the difference used to calculate win/loss adjustments in the same way as for singles. Both partners receive the same adjustment.
